It's always difficult quitting a job, but once you do you realize how much better off you are! I'm glad that you managed to find a new workplace that is hopefully more aligned with type of environment you feel at ease at.
I've also thought about starting a physical journal although I'm not very artsy (or very talented at it I should say). If you feel comfortable sharing parts of yours I'd love to see it! People can get so creative and I love seeing them.
