I saw an interesting article in a psychology today magazine in my therapists waiting room today. It basically said that people who used money to buy time (pay someone to do time consuming tasks for you) were happier than people who used their money to buy stuff.
That's maybe a little out of left field, but your last bullet point about selling your life reminded me of it.. I guess if we have to sell our lives just to live, we may as well use some of the funds to buy back some parts?
I've been struggling with this stuff most of my life. It's tough. I don't think we're built for this, but as we're highly adaptable, it can be done. It's a bummer though because for most folks, long hours are just making someone else rich. I still hope I can find a job that is meaningful, but I'm not holding my breath.
